With over 200 camps in Wadi Rum, it is impossible to decide which one to stay on by merely searching an accommodation booking site. There are traditional tents in the center of the desert that can only be accessed by 4×4 to luxury martian tents that visitors can drive their rental cars to. Did you know there is even a camp in Wadi Rum with a swimming pool! For a country that has little water to spare, this is a luxury that few will see. With so many options out there this guide to the best Bedouin camps in Wadi Rum will give you a rundown on the types of camps and camping available in Jordan’s desert, and tips on how to choose the best Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum for your trip

Bedouin Camps in Wadi Rum

All of the Jordan desert camp options have things in common as well as differences. Recently luxury bubble tents have been a bucket list item that visitors want to tick off when they visit Wadi Rum. While just a few years ago there were only a few camps that offered a “martian tent” or “dome tent” or panorama tent” there are more and more popping up every season!

Luxury Camps in Wadi Rum

Luxury camps are one of the most popular accommodation options in Wadi Rum and there are dozens of options. They are perfect for those who are looking for glamping experiences in one of the most incredible landscapes in the world. These camps offer amenities that appeal to those who are looking for a little luxury. This is not camping. This is glamping and it is hugely popular in Wadi Rum!

Luxury Camp Wadi Rum - Hasan Zawaideh Camp

Hasan Zawaideh Camp – This camp has been around for 5 years and has been adding and improving ever since their first luxury rooms. It offers Domed Martian tents at a great price. The Martian tents have their own bathroom inside the tent. They also offer luxury tents, which are almost like a house rather than a tent. They have locking doors and bathrooms.

This camp is ideal because it is just a few minutes by car to the Visitor’s center. If you have your own car you can drive right to the camp. If you do not have a car, staff at the camp will pick you up from the Visitor’s center. They also have wifi on site. Breakfast is included when camping at Hasan Zawaideh Camp. Make sure to also inquire about dinner as they are known for excellent food and cook traditional bedouin zarb (underground BBQ) that you must try while in Wadi Rum!

Hasan Zawaideh is a very popular camp in Wadi Rum because its prices are rarely beaten!

Wadi Rum Luxury Glamping

Sun City Camp – Sun City Camp is one of the most well-known camps in Wadi Rum. So well known it is often sold out months in advance as tour groups especially like their location! They were one of the first camps in Wadi Rum to bring the domed Martian tents.

Sun City Camp is another camp that you can drive to, which is nice if you have your own rental car. Because this camp is so popular you should book it well in advance!

Jordan - Wadi Rum - Bridge Photo

Jamal Rum Camp – Jamal Rum Camp is popular because it has tents for all budgets and has lots of great reviews online. It has Martain domes as well as basic camps. Jamal Rum camp also has wifi and offers stunning views from its location. If you have your own car you can drive to the camp and park.

Wadi Rum - Cave Camp Glamping at Captain's Camp

Captain’s Desert Camp – Captain’s Camp is another popular camp that should be booked well in advance if you want to stay here! It is well known and has been welcoming guests for over 10 years and are very well established in Wadi Rum.

While most of the accommodations in this Bedouin campsite are deluxe rather than luxury, Captain’s camp does have something that other camps do not, a luxury cave complete with a skylite! Check it out (and choose the option tent to look at the photos)

Jordan Desert Luxury Camping with Hot Tub Jacuzzi

Wadi Rum Bubble Luxotel If glamping can be given five stars, this would be one of those places. Wadi Rum Bubble Luxotel is one of those places that books up well in advance, so if you want to stay here, make sure to base your dates around its availability. Imagine looking up at the stars from the comfort of your own bed, knowing you are in the middle of the desert. Wadi Rum Bubble Luxotel offers air-conditioned bubbles that have epic views. With a seating area, you can enjoy as well as privacy in a sleeping area. There are even hot tubs on the deck.

Best Local Wadi Rum Camps

There are camps that cater to tourists and there are camps that cater to locals. Just as if you were going to travel in your home country, there is something for everyone. You will likely meet few locals in these luxury bubble tents, but that is not to say that they are not also ticking it off their bucket lists. It is just that where they actually sleep matters little to them. They are looking for great food and to have a great time. It is their vacation too. With that in mind, there are camps that cater to locals that will give you an insiders perspective, and the opportunity to meet more people from Jordan.

These camps often have evening entertainment in the form of music and dancing and often large buffet dinners. Shisha will be popular and some camps can accommodate large groups who often come in for dinner and entertainment and then continue on to Aqaba for the night.

My favorite is Rum Magic Camp. They offer a range of tents from basic to luxury panorama tents to newly installed bubble tents. Link to the booking page will be added once available.

Wadi Rum - Captains Camp Bedouin Camp with Music

Captain’s Desert Camp – Captain’s Camp is another popular camp that should be booked well in advance if you want to stay here! It is well known and has been welcoming guests for over 10 years and are very well established in Wadi Rum.

I also mentioned it above because it offers luxury sleeping options. But that does not scare away locals. They come here for the great food and the weekend parties. Every night there is some form of entertainment. Sometimes it is live music and singers, other times they have a DJ and dancing.

Captain’s camp is convenient to drive to if you have a rental car or are traveling with a group.
